GATE Students Create Artwork and Beads for Children Coping with Serious Illness

Beads of Courage, Inc., an international nonprofit organization based in Tucson, today announced a first-of-its-kind collaboration with the Tucson Unified School District GATE (Gifted and Talent Education) program.

Beads of Courage provides arts-in-medicine programs for children coping with cancer and other serious illnesses.

The Art Collaboration with TUSD culminates this week, April 22-26, with more than 1,600 GATE students in grades 1-5 will decorate art cards (grades 1-2) and make at least 5,000 polymer clay beads (grades 3-5) which will be given to Beads of Courage members to celebrate going home after a long hospital stay.
