University High School recognized as a 2012 NCEA Higher Performing School
Posted November 2, 2012
The National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) has recognized
University High School
as a 2012 NCEA Higher Performing School. UHS was one of only nine schools in the state and the only Southern Arizona school to receive this recognition.
UHS received Higher Performing (HP) recognition in the following areas:
• Math – UHS was identified as Higher Performing in advanced content and also demonstrated high performing growth.
• Reading and Writing - UHS was identified as Higher Performing in advanced content.
The Higher Performing Schools are identified by two measures: consistent improvement in student achievement from previous years (growth) and/or absolute student achievement using the school's Exceeds Performance results on the spring 2012 Arizona AIMS (Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards).
Earlier this year, UHS was named the fourth best high school in the country in U.S. News & World Report's annual list of the nation's best high schools.
