Drachman Montessori Magnet part of urban chicken coop tour

Posted December 1, 2014

Drachman Montessori Magnet School will be a featured stop on this year's Food Conspiracy Co-op's 7th Annual Chicken Coop Tour.

The self-guided tour is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is designed to introduce people to urban chicken-keeping. Tickets are $5 and are available online at and at Food Conspiracy Co-op, 412 N. 4th Ave., until the day of the tour while supplies last.

Participants will be able to visit with coop owners at each stop to learn about raising chickens and the benefits of having a regular supply of fresh chicken eggs. Proceeds from the coop tour ticket sales will benefit the Food Conspiracy Co-op's educational programs.

Drachman's ecology program was also recognized recently at the Envision Tucson Sustainable Festival. Mayor Jonathan Rothschild presented the school with the Festival's Green School Recognition.
