Posted January 17, 2014
Delaney Schnell, a student at Tucson High Magnet School, has earned a chance to go the Youth Olympics Games in Nanjing, China, in August.
Schnell, a freshman, finished first in the 10-meter platform, which advances her to the Youth Olympic Games qualifier in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Feb. 28 to March 2. She has shattered diving records, metaled in the Junior Pan Am Diving Championships and also competes in senior level events.
Dr. H.T. Sánchez, TUSD superintendent, recognized Delaney's achievement at the Jan. 14, 2014, governing board meeting.
"Congratulations, Delaney. We wish you well in Guadalajara and we look forward to following your competition results in the future," he said.
