Tucson High's boys soccer team takes state title

Posted February 18, 2014

The Tucson High Magnet School boys soccer team finished an undefeated season by taking home the state title on Feb. 15 in Gilbert.

This is the first time Tucson High soccer has brought home a state championship, and it's the school's first title in any sport since the baseball team won its championship in 1988.

The team, which went into the tournament undefeated, beat Glendale Copper Canyon 3-0 to win the title.

"We are so proud of our coach and our soccer players," says Kevin Amidan, assistant principal at Tucson High. "The team has over a 3.00 team GPA and did not lose any athletes to academic eligibility this season. Their hard work, positive attitudes, and commitment to excellence both in the classroom and on the soccer field have paid off tremendously, and the memory will last forever. Go Badgers!"
