Dodge celebrates its designation as an A+ Schools of Excellence
Posted May 8, 2015
Students, teachers, staff and parents gathered Thursday afternoon at Dodge Traditional Magnet Middle School to celebrate its designation as an A+ School of Excellence.
During the assembly, the Arizona Education Foundation's Lee Nelson presented Principal Daniel Schulter with a $500 check for the school, along with a banner. Ms. Nelson told the kids to "brag, brag, brag" about their wonderful school and to wear the A+ with pride.
The A+ designation is not easy to achieve. It is a comprehensive school assessment program that recognizes schools for outstanding work in the areas of student focus and support, school culture, active teaching and learning, curriculum, leadership community and achievement.
Deputy Superintendent Adrian Vega and Board Member Cam Juárez attended the event. Mr. Juárez told the students, "You are the engine of this district. Thank you for all your hard work."
Following the check presentation, the advanced choir belted out songs from Les Miz and the band and orchestra teamed up for a rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.
Dodge is one of two schools to earn the honor this year. Carrillo K-5 Magnet School will be celebrating on May 18.
