Band aidWhen should I keep my child home from school because of illness?

In order for your child to be most available for learning and to control communicable disease in school, it is very important for you to keep your child at home when he or she displays any of the following:

A temperature of 100 degrees or more. Your child should remain at home in bed for the day and should be fever free for 24 hours (without the aid of Tylenol or Motrin) before returning to school.
A diagnosed strep infection. Your child should be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.
Vomiting during the night or in the morning.
Persistent diarrhea during the night and into the morning.
A moist productive cough, chest congestion, or discolored nasal discharge
Red, swollen eyes that itch and are draining pus (eyes crusty upon awakening)
Any body rash
Complaint of “not feeling well” - headache, dizziness, refusing breakfast.

Please notify the Health Office if your child is diagnosed with a strep infection.
