Environmental Services

The Environmental Services Program was established to ensure TUSD's compliance with the federal, state and local Rules and Regulations regarding environmental and health concerns. This includes regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA), Federal Asbestos in Schools Act, and Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act(AHERA).

To comply with the above regulations:

  1. TUSD is required to inspect every facility at three-year intervals to identify asbestos containing materials(ACM).
  2. TUSD is also required to conduct periodic surveillance every six months to assess the physical condition of ACM in an effort to prevent potential exposures to asbestos and other toxic materials to building occupants.
