Planning

Mission statement:

Planning Services helps to create a strong link between academics, operations and the community by providing objective analyses, emphasizing the interreatedness of decisions, creating and maintaning data for a wide range of clients and decisions, and assuring broad-based community involvement in TUSD's move to the future. We help our facility managers conserve valuable resources and maximize revenue streams from the resources we have.

Planning Services serves the TUSD community by:

  • Projecting enrollments at each school to help allocate teachers and materials
  • Tracking the use of TUSD facilities to determine capacities and respond to program changes
  • Tracking new development to anticipate and respond to impacts on schools
  • Maintaining and managing communication towers lease agreements
  • Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for mapping and analyzing property, facility and student data
  • Working with community groups for school boundary changes and for selecting sites for new facilities
  • Acquiring and selling sites and easements to support TUSD programs, respond to new development, or generate revenues
  • Creating intergovernmental agreements (IGA'S) with the County and the City for the shared use of public facilities
  • Creating and managing energy conservation programs to control utility costs
  • Overseeing TUSD recycling program to control waste disposal costs
  • Analyzing policies to determine facility impacts and anticipating optimal responses to program changes
