Short-term plans/options to meet the goal: Provide relief to large and/or over capacity schools in the southwest area.

Area Description # of Students Comments
LYN01 Bus the Oakmore and Terrace Midvale Areas to Rose, Hollinger, Safford, Carrillo, or Grijalva. 65 This area is separate from the rest of Midvale. Grijalva is less over capacity than Lynn-Urquides, but is still over capacity. Students may be able to walk to Grijalva. Students will be attending a smaller school. Rose and Safford are Performing Plus schools.
LYN03 Bus the area north of Irvington and east of Mission to Rose, Hollinger, Safford, or Carrillo. 10 120 more housing units being built in this area (apprx. 40 students). Students will be attending a smaller school. Rose and Safford are Performing Plus schools. This area is one of the closest bused areas to Lynn-Urquides.
LYN04 Bus the Rio Seco Apartments north of Irvington to Rose, Hollinger, Safford, or Carrillo. 39 Students will be attending a smaller school. Rose and Safford are Performing Plus schools.
LYN05 Bus the West Ajo area to Oyama 9 The Oyama bus already picks up students in the area. Students will be attending a smaller school. This doesn't have much impact.
LYN06 Bus the West Irvington Area to Rose, Hollinger, Safford, or Carrillo. 48 Students will be attending a smaller school. Rose and Safford are Performing Plus schools.
WHI01 Move the GATE program at White to Safford apprx. 120 Many of the students are from the southwest area. Students from other areas already transfer buses at Safford. Teachers would move with the program. This would not work with any options that place other areas into Safford.
PIS01 LYN01, LYN03, and LYN04 Area middle school students to Wakefield 98 Improves articulation-this area would attend Wakefield with other Rose or Hollinger students. Wakefield has capacity. Wakefield is an Underperforming school.
PIS02 GATE program to Safford. apprx. 90 Many of the students are from the southwest area. Teachers would move with the program. This would combine well with WHI01. Safford has room for this and VAL02. Safford MS is an Underperforming school.
VAL01 All of the Oyama Area of Valencia to Maxwell. 181 No split feeder. Maxwell is an Underperforming school.
VAL05 LYN06 Area to Wakefield. 5 Improves articulation if combined with the Lynn-Urquides options that are bused to Rose or Hollinger. Wakefield has space.
