Short-term plans/options to meet the goal: Provide relief to large and/or over capacity schools in the southwest area.

Area Description # of Students Comments
VES03 Bus new subdivisions to Warren and/or Banks, or Hollinger or Rose. 200 Affects less existing students-primarily new areas.All affected students are already bused about the same distance for the Warren/Banks options.This is a temporary measure until a new elementary school is built.Able to attend a smaller school.Warren is a Performing Plus School.Warren and Banks are the closest schools with capacity, but would need portables.

An elementary school would be established in the SW Ed Center (former Lawrence ES). 200 Facility is in good shape-renovations will be completed in 08/08.All affected students are bused about the same distance.This is a temporary measure until a new elementary school is built.Able to attend a smaller school.Need to share use of library which is being rented by Pima County.This would require moving the SW Alternative programs and perhaps the pre-schools.
HOH01 New subdivisions (as in VES03) to Safford apprx. 100 Affects less existing students-primarily new areas.All affected students are bused.Students will be bused a long distance.This is a temporary measure until a new middle school is built.
