PARTNERS-IN-EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

BOARD POLICY 1145

The Governing Board recognizes the importance of a coordinated and structured development program for Tucson Unified School District that will serve to increase the participatory and charitable involvement of individuals, foundations, business, industry, and civic organizations in support of educational priorities; thereby, enriching the educational experiences of children. In turn, TUSD students will be better prepared for successful entry into the workforce and postsecondary education as well as for productive and responsible citizenship.

Development is a process of developing friends and encouraging voluntary contributions of external resources in support of educational programs. Development activities are based on: positive public relationships for institutional advancement; the understanding that in public schools everyone is the customer; and the premise that there are many ambassadors for development within the Tucson Unified School District.

The Governing Board hereby supports the establishment of a comprehensive Development Program for Tucson Unified School District enabling district personnel and volunteers to more effectively maintain and increase external support systems and funding sources to TUSD students, programs and staff.
