BOARD POLICY 4350

Any Governing Board member or employee of the school district who has, or whose relative has, a substantial interest in any contract, sale, purchase or service to the District, or a contractor supplying the District, shall make known that interest in the official records of the District, and shall refrain from recommending, voting upon, or otherwise participating in any manner as a Board member or employee in such contract, sale, or purchase.

No Governing Board member or school district employee shall supply to the school district any equipment, material, supplies or services unless pursuant to an award or contract let after public competitive bidding, except that the Board, without using public competitive bidding, may purchase supplies, materials and equipment not exceeding three hundred dollars in cost in any single transaction and not to exceed a total of one thousand dollars annually, from a Governing Board member, provided the purchase is made within the twelve-month period following approval of this policy.

Purchasing for Personal Use

No employee may purchase goods or services for personal use in the name of Tucson Unified School District.

Selling

No employee may sell goods or services for private gain to students or other employees on school premises.

Solicitation

No employee may use his/her position with the District to solicit, directly or indirectly, the purchase of supplies, services or equipment at special discounts for private use from any school district vendor. It is understood that the Superintendent, or designee, may solicit or accept discounts for groups of employees.

Solicitation during working hours of employees either for contributions or membership drives must be approved by the Superintendent before made in the schools.
