This month's Board Report combines
information on Board actions from meetings held in September and October.
Our first board retreat held Oct. 7 and 8 at Tucson High Magnet School's Badger Room
went very well.
Dr. Paz presented his Bold Game statement of TUSD's Leadership
Team which was featured in an article the week of Oct. 8 in the Tucson Citizen.
His statement detailed the expectations he has for our students including a 100%
graduation rate and 0% expulsions.
We were very impressed with his presentation and hope to see many of his expectations
fulfilled. A copy of his statement can be found in the insert in this
month's issue.
Additionally, Dr. Paz's priorities for the district are also detailed in the insert and
in the report's front page article.
Although these priorities will have a high profile throughout the school year, the
skills and qualities detailed in the 21st Century Graduate will continue to guide
curriculum along with the Action 2000 Plan.
Also featured is our new fund-raising policy and administrative regulation that was
approved at the October meeting.
We anticipate this new policy will make it easier for our staff, students, and
community members to understand procedures.
Exciting projects in the works include the installation of phones in each classroom in
the district and the hiring of an architect to start work on two new schools set to open
next year.
