As the end of the semester nears, the Governing
Board has begun the process of budget development.
At this month's Board meeting, we reviewed the
first draft of the 2001-2002 Budget Priorities.
Included among those priorities are several
maintenance and operation priorities including employee salaries,
teacher recruitment, and site decision making /school review
processes.
Student achievement is also among those
priorities. To enhance this particular area, the board is looking
at improving funding for several programs including Balanced
Literacy, summer school, and Saturday school.
Capital budget priorities include improving
classroom space, increasing funding for fine arts and more
effectively meeting technology needs.
The Board will also be looking at how funding from
Prop. 301 will affect these priorities.
A revised version of Governing Board Policy 1240
was also approved at the meeting. Formerly known as Fund
Raising and Solicitations, the revision updated the title to Districtwide
Solicitations and specifies the accounting for the funds.
Additionally, the revised policy lists charities currently
approved by the Board.
On behalf of the Governing Board, we wish you and
your families a peaceful and restful winter break.
