Approved funding proposals:

  • Arizona Commission on the Arts: Pueblo Gardens Arts Integration Project (new)
  • Arizona State Land Department Urban and Community Forestry Program: accept Community Challenge grant for the People's Garden Project, Pueblo Gardens Elementary School (new)
  • Environmental Protection Agency: education grant - The Green Project, Miles E.L.C. (new)
  • Approved mentoring and tutoring pilot program in Tucson Unified School District - Connect Tucson.
  • Approved education service agreement between Tucson Unified School District and the Center for Educational Development, a division of the Pima County Superintendent of Schools, in collaboration with the Pima County La Escuela Consortium, consisting of Amphitheather, Marana and Tucson Unified school districts, July 1, 1997 to June 30, 1998. (new)
  • Approved Plans and Specifications for Naylor Middle School HVAC repairs, with authorization to advertise for bids. (capital)
Award of Bid No. 6563 - TUSD Food Service Warehouse Shell Building Addition and Tenant Improvement to Sundance Design and Construction, Inc.

Award of Request for Proposal (RFP) 6564 - group dental coverage to Bluecross Blueshield, Employers Dental Services and United Dental Care, short term disability coverage to Unum Life Insurance Company, and life insurance coverage to Met Life.

Ratified salary and non-salary vouchers for the period beginning January 13, 1998 and ending February 2, 1998.

Approved endorsement of Bills of Sale and Affidavit for Improvement Agreements:

  1. to the City of Tucson for Dunham Elementary School.
  2. to the City of Tucson for Ford Elementary School.

Study/Action Agenda Highlights

Approved school uniforms for students at Johnson Primary School and Lawrence Intermediate School.

Approved resolution for sale of refunding bonds.
