Action Agenda Highlights

Held public hearing and approved Truth in Taxation; Notice of Tax Increase

Held public hearing and adopted the Fiscal Year 1998-99 TUSD Annual Budget--in accordance with A.R.S. §15-905

Approved the administrative appointments, reassignments and transfers of: Andrew Kent, principal, Fort Lowell Elementary School; Patricia McElroy, principal, Menlo Park Elementary School; Mark Saliba, assistant principal, Hohokam Middle School; Kathy Johnson, director, Health Services

Accepted hearing officers' recommendations regarding the expulsion of seven students

Modified the Governing Board action of March 10, 1998, re: Arbitrator's Opinion--Grievance No. 1756

Approved Hispanic Studies -- 1998-99 recommendations for Board action on Hispanic Studies Multicultural Education, Multicultural Education Oversight Committee and Bilingual Education Monitoring Process (with revisions)

Consent Agenda Highlights

Authorized the disposal of administrative records from Carrillo Intermediate Magnet, Drachman Primary Magnet, Roskruge Bilingual Magnet, Accommodation Middle, Doolen Middle, Gridley Middle and Palo Verde High schools

Approved the revolving line of credit with Bank of America

Accepted blanket approval for high school participation in athletic schedules and in-state non-athletic activities for school year 1998-99

Approved funding proposal -- Reading is Fundamental grant, Utterback Middle Magnet School (continuation)

Approved Intergovernmental Agreements between:

  1. Tucson Unified School District and the University of Arizona for the Cooperative Teacher Exchange program for 1998-99
  2. Tucson Unified School District and Flowing Wells, Amphitheater, Sunnyside and Marana Unified School Districts each, for Aztec Middle College

Approved easements:

  1. Public pedestrian easement to the City of Tucson, Dietz Elementary School
  2. Electrical easement to Tucson Electric Power, Wakefield Middle School
  3. Agreement with At&T Wireless Services, PCS, Inc., Sabino High School, with authorization for the Director of Risk Management to negotiate and execute a five-year agreement
  4. Agreement with Western PCS III Corp, Sabino High School, with authorization for the Director of Risk Management to negotiate and execute a five-year agreement

Approved Bill of Sale and Aflidavit for Improvement Agreement with the City of Jason, Wrightstown Elementary School

Awarded Requests for Proposals (RFP)

  1. RFP No. 6609 - Supplemental Pupil Transportation Services to various vendors
  2. RFP No, 6610 - Contracted Support Services for Students, Families and Staff, FY 1999 to various vendors

Awarded Food Services Bid No, 98PD - recommendation is to award to lowest responsive bidder

Ratified salary and non-salary vouchers for the period beginning June 2, 1998 ending June 29, 1998

Approved recommended action regarding procurement bid protest appeals by:

  1. Thyssen Elevator Company
  2. Coca Cola Company
