ACTION ITEMS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Proclaimed March as Social Work Month in Tucson Unified School District.
  • Adopted hearing officers' recommendations regarding the expulsion of eight students.
  • Appointed an East Growth Task Force Committee
  • Approved the administrative appointments, transfers and reassignments of Teresa Sonnleitner, Ph.D., principal, Soleng Tom Elementary School; Anna Rivera, Ph.D., principal, Lawrence Intermediate School; Paul Hatch, assistant principal, Tucson High Magnet School.
  • Approved the elimination of administrative positions and creation of new positions.

CONSENT AGENDA HIGHLIGHTS

  • Authorized the disposal of Administrative Records from Kellond, Tolson and Wheeler elementary schools, GATE Plus Program, and Ajo Service Center
  • Approved 1998-99 Student Absence Report (Widespread Illness)
  • Approved exemption of First, Second and Third Year Limited English Proficient Students from the spring 1999 Stanford 9/TASK testing, grades 2-11, and adopted Governing Board Resolution
  • Approved contracts for members of the Tucson Education Association (TEA) Bargaining Unit for the 1998-99 school year
  • Approved funding proposal: Arizona Commission on the Arts - Artist-In-Residence Program (continuation)
  • Approved default carrier for Health Benefits
  • Approved Revolving Line of Credit with Bank of America - Tax Certification Letter for 1999
  • Awarded Bid No. 6707 - Catalina High Magnet School Science Center to Carnes Construction Inc.
  • Approved plans and specifications for new all-weather tracks and new stadium lights, Catalina and Pueblo high magnet schools, with authorization to bid (deseg capital)
  • Granted pedestrian easement to the City of Tucson, Erickson Elementary School
  • Approved changes of dates for the April 13 Regular Board Meeting to April 6 and the June 8 Regular Board Meeting to June 15.
  • Authorized Governing Board Member(s) to attend the Development of Chicano Studies Curricula K-12 Conference, Denver, Colorado, March 17-22, 1999 (amended)
  • Authorized Governing Board Member(s) to attend the 5th International Teaching for Intelligence Conference, San Francisco, California, April 16-23, 1999 (amended)
  • Ratified salary and non-salary vouchers for the period beginning February 1, 1999 and ending February 28, 1999
