  • Approved the Fiscal Year 1999-2000 TUSD Annual Budget - in accordance with A.R.S. §15-905
  • Adopted hearing officers' recommendations regarding the expulsion of eight students
  • Approved the appointment of Pam Francis and Bruce Greenberg to the Independent Citizens' Committee
  • Approved employee agreements:
    1. 1999-2001 Consensus Agreement between Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) and Teachers Education Association (TEA) for certificated employees, subject to ratification by members of the respective TEA bargaining unit; implementation effective following ratification by TEA
    2. 999-2001 White Collar/Food Service Agreement between Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) and Teachers Education Association (TEA), subject to ratification by members of the respective TEA bargaining unit; implementation effective following ratification by TEA
    3. 1999-2000 Meet and Confer Agreement between Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) and Educational Leaders, Inc. (ELI) for certified and classified administrators
    4. 1999-2000 Meet and Confer Agreement between Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) and Educational Leaders, Inc. (ELI)for research evaluators

CONSENT AGENDA HIGHLIGHTS

  • Authorized disposal of administrative records from Corbett, Hughes and Lineweaver elementary schools; Naylor Middle School and Safford Middle Magnet School; Pueblo High Magnet School; Teenage Parent Program; and Purchasing Department
  • Approved blanket approval for high school participation in athletic schedules and in-state non-athletic activities for school year 1999-2000
  • Approved funding proposals:
    1. Arizona Department of Education: Parent/School Decision-Making grant, Myers- Ganoung Elementary School (new)
    2. Arizona Department of Education: Special Education Division: Application consolidating Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and PL99-45 -- Project ABLE Preschool (continuation)
    3. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Justice and Education: Unidos-Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative (new)
  • Approved Agreements:
    1. Intergovernmental Agreement between the Arizona State Museum, University of Arizona and Tucson Unified School District for Lawrence Intermediate School (extension)
    2. Easement Agreement with Sprint Spectrum LP, a Delaware Limited Partnership, regarding Whitmore Elementary School, with authorization for Director of Engineering and Planning Services to negotiate and execute a five year Easement Agreement
  • Awarded Bids:
    1. No. 6773 - Catalina High Magnet School Science Equipment to ISEC, Inc.
    2. No. 6776 - Drachman Primary Magnet School Playground/Park Renovation to Lefco, Inc.
  • Ratified salary and non-salary vouchers for the period beginning June 1, 1999 and ending June 30, 1999

  • Approved naming of Tucson High Magnet School Library to John E. Hoge Library
