Fragale Scholarship to Benefit Rincon Students
The Vincent M. Fragale Scholarship recently was established to benefit
students of Rincon High School. "Through the kindness
and the donations of family and friends, the Vincent M. Fragale
scholarship was created," wrote Albert Baker, managing
foreman, TUSD Plumbing Department.
Fragale, a 1993 Rincon High School graduate, excelled in academics
and on the baseball field, lettering in baseball during his four
years at Rincon. Graduating 26th in his class, Fragale received
a four-year academic scholarship to the University of Arizona, wrote
Baker of his late brother-in-law. "Wanting to help out his widowed
mother, Vince declined the scholarship and worked part-time while
attending Pima Community College, working toward a degree in juvenile
law," Baker wrote.
On April 26, 1995, Fragale collapsed on the baseball field while
playing in an 18-and-older baseball league. "His buddies carried
him home, and two days later, he died unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm,"
Baker wrote.
The scholarship is intended for fees to help Rincon students participate
in activities such as athletics, fine arts, school-sponsored field
trips, and to purchase yearbooks and school supplies. The scholarship
will be administered by the school’s assistant principal for
activities and the athletic director. To donate to the scholarship
fund, send a check payable to the Vincent M. Fragale Scholarship,
Rincon High School, Finance Manager, 421 N. Arcadia Blvd., Tucson,
AZ 85711.
To apply for scholarship funds, Rincon students should contact
their counselors or the scholarship administrators.
