• Graduated from high school in Nogales in 1976.
• Attended Pima Community College for two years.
• Graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1980 with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education with an emphasis on early childhood education.

Experience

• Taught kindergarten at Elm Elementary School in Nogales for two years.
• Taught kindergarten at Miles Exploratory Learning Center for 10 years
• Taught language arts and social studies at Utterback Middle School for five years.
• Taught at Doolen Middle School for three years.

Tucson Education Association

• Secretary, 2001-03
• Vice-president, 2003-05
• President 2005-06. Her term ends May 25.

Family
Married to Ebie for 27 years. She has a 23-year-old son, Omid, a University of Arizona student, and a 12-year-old daughter, Maya, an Orange Grove Middle School student.
