Department Updates
Mojave, PeopleSoft and Computer Basic Demos
Technology & Telecommunications Services (TTS)
has developed and continues to add to a growing library of online
instructional demos. More than 20 Mojave demos and more than 20
Computer Basics Demos have been posted to the District intranet.
Demos are also available for PeopleSoft instruction. Each demo is
a learning unit that demonstrates a task or technique that you can
observe performed step-by-step. Control buttons allow you to pause
the demo, jump backward or forward, or start over. Demos can be
accessed by TUSD employees on the District intranet: just click
Dept. Web Sites > TTS > Training Materials.
Kudos to the TTS Installation Team
Over the past eight months, the installation team of Norma
Galindo, Cynthia Catalfamo and David
Yazzie delivered or installed 2,200 computers or laptops,
1,450 monitors, and 1,600 other devices (printers, projectors, SMART
boards, carts, headsets, cameras, etc.).
Coordination of moving and delivery of equipment by the installation
team helped Curriculum, Instruction and Technology Integration provide
training and professional development for more than 1,000 teachers,
administrators and other TUSD staff. Supported events included OMA
Summer 2006 Training, two Language Arts Adoption training sessions,
New Teacher Orientation, the Kindergarten Class Size Reduction Initiative
and other trainings.
Completed Emergency Plans
Risk Management has announced the completion of
a number of school Emergency Site Plans. Gale Elementary,
Bloom Elementary and Dodge Magnet Elementary
schools are ready to go to the next step. Great job! The schools'
plans have gone through the internal review process and now are
ready to be presented to the Tucson Fire and Tucson Police departments
for final approval. Risk Management will present the plans for final
review the week of Dec. 11.
If your school has a completed emergency plan, call Risk Management
so the plan can be reviewed. Once plans are reviewed and approved
by Risk Management, they move into the final approval phase, which
is required by the Arizona Department of Education.
Again, kudos to Paula Godfrey, Catherine
Comstock and Diane Quevedo for a job well
done!
