Miller will celebrate Rodeo Days
For the second year, Miller Elementary School, 6951 S. Camino de la Tierra, will celebrate Rodeo Days with circle and line dances for students and their families and friends. During the last song, the audience will be encouraged to dance with the children.
Kristen Federico, the Opening Minds through the Arts Integration specialist, is leading the activities which include kindergarten through the fifth-grades.
DECA conference seeks judges
Business and community leaders are invited to volunteer as judges for the Distributive Education Clubs of America state conference at the Tucson Convention Center on Tuesday, March 4. Over 200 judges are needed for the annual event. Students will be matched against hundreds of Arizona students. Winners will compete at the international level in Atlanta, Ga., in April with 15,000 other students from around the world. For more information contact Louann Costa at louann.costa@tusd1.org.
Information needed for emergency flipchart
School administrators are reminded to include information about their sites in the red vinyl flipcharts, the supplemental quick guides that should be followed in emergencies and specific situations. Mounting brackets have been provided for easy posting in administrative offices. Although the flipchart is not intended to replace the Emergency Management Plan at each school, it will be helpful during emergencies. The flipchart is a supplement to the TUSD Emergency Preparedness Procedures binder that Risk Management has distributed to school site administrators.
Pfeuffer and Lopez will be honored at OMA showcase
Superintendent Roger F. Pfeuffer and Deputy Superintendent Patricia Lopez will be honored at the Opening Minds through the Arts Artist Showcase and "Meet the Artists" reception on Saturday, March 8.The event will be from 3-6 p.m. in the Rincon/University High School Auditorium, 421 N. Arcadia.
OMA will recognize Pfeuffer's and Lopez's leadership, vision, passion and continued support of OMA, which is celebrating the eighth year of its founding.
The $25 admission ticket includes admittance to the concert and reception.
Doolen's Feeder Schools Fair set for March 12
Academic and extra-curricular highlights of students from the elementary schools who later attend Doolen Middle School, as well as work by Catalina Magnet High School students, will be displayed from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at Doolen, 2400 N. Country Club Road.
Work will come from the Blenman, Cragin, Davidson, Jefferson Park, and Wright elementary schools. Parents, students and community members are invited to attend this event which will feature displays with school information, students' work, projects and presentations. Door prizes will be awarded.
Sahuaro will name fine arts wing for David Ashcraft
The dedication of the newly renovated Sahuaro High School Fine Arts wing, named in honor of Dr. David Ashcraft, will be Sunday, March 16, starting at 2 p.m. in the Egbert Auditorium, 545 N. Camino Seco.
Former Sahuaro choir members are invited to participate in the alumni choir, which will perform at the dedication. Those interested in joining should contact Ed Moore at eandcmoore@cox.net
Donations are being accepted to buy building lettering and the large bronze plaque, which will be located in the auditorium lobby. Donations may be sent to: Sahuaro High Cougar Foundation, P.O. Box 18181, Tucson, AZ 85731.
