Focus on TUSD - May 2008

Free Summer Meals Available at Sites
The Tucson Unified School District will provide free breakfasts and lunches this summer to children attending summer programs at qualifying school and non-school sites. The meal service is also open to neighborhood children who are not registered in a summer program at that site. The meals will be served in school cafeterias or in other areas of the non-school sites.

The program begins May 27 and continues to July 3. Service dates and meal times will vary depending on the programs at each site. For individual school site programs, consult the accompanying schedule. Dates and times are subject to change.

Check the complete schedule online. The online schedule is updated as changes occur.

For more information call the individual site office or the TUSD Food Services office at 225-4700. To find out if there is a summer food service program site near you, call the 24-hour, bilingual Helpline at 1-800-352-3792.

Meals will be free to all children ages 1 to 18 within the approved geographic area without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, and marital or family status. (Not all prohibited bases apply to all programs.) Those who believes that they have been discriminated against in any USDA related activity should contact the Secretary of Agriculture, Washington, D.C. 20250.
