EEF Recognizes Pfeuffer, Trattner, Star
and PICOR at Annual Luncheon
Governing
Board members presented Superintendent Roger F. Pfeuffer
with a piñata in his likeness at the Educational Enrichment
Foundation's (EEF) ninth annual Ray Davies Lifetime Humanitarian
Achievement Award Luncheon on Oct. 12 at the Doubletree Hotel.
Approximately 530 people attended the event where Pfeuffer was recognized
by EEF along with the Arizona Daily Star, PICOR, and recently retired
EEF Executive Director Sally Trattner.
The piñata was presented by Bruce Burke
and Alex Rodriguez, who spoke on behalf of the
board. Former TUSD Superintendent Paul Houston
also attended and briefly spoke about the exciting and exasperating
challenges facing today's public school district superintendents.
Houston is executive director of the American Association of School
Administrators in Arlington, Va.
David Fitzsimmons, editorial cartoonist for the Arizona Daily Star,
served as master of ceremonies. The mariachi group from Davis
Bilingual Magnet School performed, singing the crowd favorite
"God Bless America," in English and Spanish.

Luncheon co-chairs were Chyrl Hill Lander, TUSD's
director of Communications & Media Relations,
and former Governing Board member Mary Belle McCorkle.
Honorary co-chairs were Dorothy Finley and Bob Strauss, also a former
TUSD Governing Board member.
Proceeds from the luncheon will be used to carry out the mission
of EEF, which is to provide resources to expand and enrich student
learning in Tucson Unified School District.
