“Project: One Hour/One Child” is a model program providing children grades one through five with mentoring support and tutoring in reading and mathematics. The program will officially begin at the start of the 2004-2005 school year and will pair adult volunteers with children who can benefit from one-on-one encouragement.
Volunteers will participate in a free one-day training, expected to take place later this school year. Training will be provided by the staff of the Interfaith Coalition for the Homeless Christine L. Goetzke Mentoring Program, also known as ICH, the project’s coordinator. Interested community members can contact ICH’s Edie Lauver at 745-9443 or
