Utterback G.A.S.P. Gallery to Feature
Images and Words Exhibit

The G.A.S.P. Gallery at Utterback Middle School, 3233 S.
Pinal Vista, will show a unique exhibit by artist Duncan
Linthicum from Jan. 16-Feb. 28. An opening reception will be
held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17.
"ARTWORD(K)" fuses images and words into abstract
artworks using the alphabet as building blocks. "What is
a word if not an image, and what is an image if it cannot be
expressed with words?" asks Linthicum.
Utterback is a TUSD magnet school with a focus on the
creative and performing arts. The G.A.S.P. Gallery is run by
14 students, who assume the responsibilities of curator,
registrar, security, docent, installer and publicist. Leading
the project is art instructor Linda Poverman.
