Scores of students will have the opportunity to tour the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus which will be at
Sabino High School, 5000 N. Bowes Rd., for an audio/video recording session from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 22 on the outdoor basketball courts, adjacent to the fine arts building.
Forgotten Melody, a rock band composed of Sabino students, earned the school a visit from the bus, along with the opportunity for the band to record in its state-of-the-art multimedia studio, when it won the Battle of the Bands competition in November. Forgotten Melody also won the school a Yamaha DGX202-76 piano-size, touch-sensitive portable keyboard, a Yamaha F310 steel-string acoustic guitar, and goodie bags containing Maxell tapes and other music-related items for all approximately 1700 Sabino students.
The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus roams the country teaching aspiring teen musicians the art of songwriting and the skills essential to engineer professional audio and video productions. The bus, staffed with a full-time production team, is outfitted with both traditional musical instruments as well as computerized musical equipment. The bus is not for profit and has been providing these free services since 1998.
