Over 50 elementary, middle, and high school students will present a free musical theater performance titled “The Nightmare After Christmas” at
7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 in the multipurpose room of Peter Howell Elementary
School, 401 N. Irving.
Based on Tim Burton’s movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” the musical is about a jack-o-lantern who decides to take over for ‘Sandy Claws’ and deliver Christmas to children. Students have taken on all major production roles including actor, stagehand, musician, and set designer. Utterback Middle School students will perform live music.
Participating students are members of a musical theater performance class presented by Project Shine. Students meet for the class every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Howell. The course is taught by Stan and Nancy Dunst and is open to students of all ages.
Project Shine is a grant-funded program that provides arts-enriched after school, Saturday, and summer programs to students who attend four TUSD elementary schools: Howell, Corbett, Wright, and Davidson.
