More than 150 students will show off their creative and debate skills during an all-school senior government debate capping a months-long senior political project from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Jan. 25 in the auditorium at University High School, 421 N. Arcadia Blvd.

The debate is culmination of a political project begun in November by the school’s senior Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics classes. Each class forms a party which selects its leaders and writes platforms, designs campaigns, creates ads, and makes speeches. The project concludes with an on-stage debate before the entire student body where creativity combines with eloquence as parties attempt to deliver their message and win votes among UHS juniors. Last year, one party created a replica of the Scooby-Doo car and all members dressed as Scooby-Doo characters.

University High School offers an all-honors academic program including 19 advanced placement classes, a strong foreign language program, an elective social studies program, a humanities option for ninth graders, and superior music and dance programs.
