Children’s Author and Illustrator to Lead Workshop for Students

Floyd Cooper, an acclaimed author and illustrator of children’s books, will lead a workshop for TUSD student writers from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. and 8, at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Rd.

Cooper, whose award-winning titles include Grandpa’s Face, Pass It On: African-American Poetry for Children and Coming Home: From the Life of Langston Hughes, will demonstrate various artistic and literary techniques.

Thirty-five TUSD schools will participate by each sending teams of eight student writers to the event. Students will be asked to bring a finished piece of writing to the workshop to share with their peers from other schools.
