In one of TUSD’s ongoing efforts to help reduce the budget deficit, 10 certificated administrators and staff from the TUSD central office will substitute teach at
Rincon High School, 421 N. Arcadia Blvd., from 7 a.m. to 2:52 p.m. on Friday, Feb.
11.
Among those substitute teaching for this day will be three principal supervisors who will teach Spanish and business classes; the senior academic officer of Student Services who will instruct an English course; and a principal coach who will cover a chemistry class. At $75 per substitute teacher per day, this effort will help save the district $750 in substitute teaching pay.
These central employees will help cover classes for teachers participating in Rincon High School’s Dream School Task Force which will meet to discuss plans for making Rincon a high school that meets the needs of all students resulting in improved student achievement school wide.
For the rest of the school year, central certified employees and classified staff with substitute certificates will continue to substitute teach at least once per month at a variety of school sites as part of TUSD’s budget balancing strategy.
“These team efforts are a testament to the commitment TUSD employees have for students and the TUSD organization,” Superintendent Roger Pfeuffer said. “They truly exemplify the ‘US’ in
TUSD.”
