African American Studies Department to Participate in Open Forum

Members of TUSD’s African American Studies Department will participate in an upcoming African American Community Town Hall from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Northwest Neighborhood Center, 2160 N. Sixth Ave.

The Town Hall is designed as an open forum to discuss vital African American concerns and strategize for the future. Issues to be addressed include educational support, political representation and advocacy, economic and social development, youth and cultural issues and problem solving, among others.

In addition to TUSD, other community participants include the University of Arizona Africana Studies and African American Student Affairs departments, UA Black Alumni, the NAACP, Tucson Urban League, Black Ministerial Alliance, Tucson Black Chamber of Commerce, Phi Beta Sigma and Black Buffalo Soldiers.
