Tucson High to Host Touring NASA
Space Center Exhibit

Tucson High Magnet School, 400 N. Second Ave., will host a visit from
NASAs touring Benefits of Space exhibit for students enrolled in the schools
science and technology program from 8:15 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 27-28.
In addition, the exhibit will be open to the public free of charge from 3-5 p.m. Feb.
27.
Housed in a renovated semitrailer operated by NASAs Johnson Space Center, the
Benefits of Space exhibit focuses on technological advances derived from the space
programranging from everyday items such as home smoke detectors and cordless phones
to advanced medical technologies such as an implantable heart-assist device.
The first section of the trailer, the Technology Hall of Fame, features audio and video
exhibits on a dozen space program spin offs. After viewing the exhibits, visitors walk
into the Surround-Sound Theater, where a 10-minute video on the past, present and future
of the space program is shown.

Tucson High Magnet School was selected for this visit because of its specialized
program in science and technology offered to students in grades 9-12.
