Scores of students, parents and staff members are expected to help with landscaping, painting and other beautifying projects during the second annual “Grow Collier Day” from
9 a.m. to about 2 p.m. Feb. 21 at Collier Elementary School, 3900 N. Bear Canyon Rd.
Coordinated by the school’s Dads’ Project board members, the event will have volunteers cleaning, refurbishing floors and doing some carpentry work. Last year, the group planted trees, extended the school’s drip system by over 200 feet, donated desks, and installed additional cabinets and a work area.
The Dads' Project is dedicated to getting fathers and their families directly involved in improving their children's education in public schools in Tucson. The organization’s main goals are to inspire and enable dads to participate in the Dads' Project at their children's public school and to work with the PTA, principals, staff and teachers in identifying and completing projects that improve our children's education.
