Public Invited to Learn About Special Education

Parents and caregivers of special needs children are invited
to learn about services offered by TUSD's Department of Exceptional
Education at the Exceptional Parent Project Spring Conference
from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 12 at Rincon
High School, 421 N. Arcadia Blvd., in the auditorium.
Sponsored by TUSD, the free conference will include a variety
of informational presentations including topics such as community
supports for parents with special needs children; individual
education plans; how to become an involved parent in TUSD's
Exceptional Education program; and how AIMS testing relates
to special needs students.
There will also be an assistive technology demonstration
as well as exhibits from local agencies and businesses that
offer services to special needs families. TUSD Exceptional
Education staff will be on hand to answer questions.
Parents are asked to register from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the
morning of the event. Childcare and Spanish translators will
be provided for attendees who R.S.V.P. to Carmen Quintero
at 225-6264, by Mar. 4.
