Abram Puig, a freshman at Rincon High School, 421 N. Arcadia Blvd., will exhibit
photographs demonstrating his unique vision as a person with autism from Feb. 28-March
5 at the Shane House Gallery, 218 S. Fourth Ave. An opening reception will be held
from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, March 2; otherwise, the gallery is open by appointment (629-0994).
The exhibit, titled "Initiate," showcases Puigs love of pattern, detail
and objects. In addition, the exhibit will include pictures and photographs used by Rincon
High School teachers to communicate with students with autism, such as images of food,
activities and people, as well as picture recipe books used to teach students to cook.
"Some of Abrams photos feature doorways, basketball courts, and his feet
all from the unique perspective of a person with autism," explains teacher
Eunice Werner. "Hopefully, his photography will become a lifelong endeavor."
