Orthopaedic Institute and TMC Volunteers To Help Build Reynolds Elementary Playground

More than 200 volunteers from Tucson Orthopaedic Institute (TOI), organizers from KaBOOM!, and community members will help build a safe, custom-designed handicapped-accessible neighborhood playground in a single day at
Reynolds Elementary School. 7450 E. Stella Road, Tucson (Kolb/Golf Links).
Saturday, March 18 – Playground Building Day
8:30 a.m. Kick-off, with local dignitaries on hand
9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Volunteers construct the playground equipment, plant trees, build picnic tables and benches, replace soccer nets and refurbish the field
2:30 p.m. Ribbon cutting, with dignitaries, to celebrate playground’s completion
3:00 p.m. Wrap playground in orange mesh for mulch-covered landing pad cure
Monday, March 20 – Unwrap-the-playground Day
Time TBA Children remove orange mesh from playground equipment

The new Reynolds playground will provide more than 500 neighborhood children with a safe place to play. The project is the second sponsored by TOI, with assistance from the TMC Foundation and KaBoom! who have a long-term joint commitment to contribute tangibly to playground safety in the Tucson community through an annual school-based playground building project. TOI raised more than $60,000 with help from the TMC Foundation and other community partners. Reynolds School contributed $5,000 to the project, which includes landscaping, benches and tables and a mural, in addition to the playground. For more information, please visit:
