UPDATE: WALKOUT OF TUSD STUDENTS

NEWS RELEASE

Contact: Karen Gallagher, 225-6437
Posted on: March 31, 2006

The following schools have currently been placed in “hard” lockdown, which means that the students will remain in their classrooms and the perimeter of the campus will also be secured; others will be considered for lockdown based on latest reports of student activity:

Cholla
Pueblo
Rincon
Townsend
Wakefield
Vail
Naylor
Valencia
Pistor
Maxwell
Hohokam

We want to acknowledge the students who have stayed on campus in their classes and applaud them for this. However, we believe there are further attempts to leave several campuses planned.

Continuing concern about the safety of the students and the reaction of our neighborhoods to roaming students has caused us to take this action.

Students who now leave classrooms without permission will have disciplinary consequences.
