TUSD Students Snap Award-Winning
Animal Photos

Candace Bergey, an eighth-grade student at Mansfeld Middle School, 1300 E. Sixth St.,
will receive the Best of Show award in the Animal Snaps photography contest at a press
party to be held from 11:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the law offices
of contest sponsors Snell & Wilmer LLP, One S. Church Ave., Suite 1500.
In addition, 13 other students from TUSD's Mansfeld and Townsend middle schools will
receive first-place, second-place and third-place awards for their entries in the contest,
a benefit for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
The other winning TUSD students are: Eileen Arbo, Willy Braun, Ruth Christopherson,
Danette Esquivel, Mareli Flores, Araceli Gallego, Teddy Raven, Alex Utegaard and Josh
Yoder (Mansfeld Middle School); and Michael Dillon, Taylor DeVita, Hayden Hall and Claudia
Saltzman (Townsend Middle School).
This past winter, students snapped photos of animals using disposable cameras provided
by Snell & Wilmer. Entries were judged in the following categories: Best Friends, Mug
Shots, Wild Things, Quiet Time, Play Time. The winning photographs will be displayed
during the next several months at the Tucson International Airport, Main Tucson-Pima
Public Library, and Bookmans (6230 E. Speedway).
