National Award Recognizes TUSD's Magnet Efforts

TUSD was selected to receive the Honorable Rod Paige Distinguished Service Award from Magnet Schools of America. Barbara Benton, director of TUSD’s School Community Relations, will accept the award on the district’s behalf at the 21st National Conference on Magnet Schools to be held on April 7 at the Long Beach Unified School District in Long Beach, Calif.

The district was recognized for its dedicated support and commitment to magnet schools and programs, equity, excellence, and opportunities for all students.

Magnet Schools of America is a professional education association representing magnet schools across the country. The association promotes the goals of desegregation, equity and excellence through expansion and improvement of magnet schools. It also provides information dissemination on magnet schools and encourages the passage of legislation at both state and national levels that will promote the development and improvement of magnet schools.
