Student council members at Miller Elementary School, 6951 S. Camino de la Tierra, will donate student-raised money to World Care at an assembly at 8 a.m. on Friday, April 8, in the school’s multi-propose room.

Pam Pfersdorf, director of operations at World Care, will receive the check for $1,000. To raise the funds, students held a school-wide penny drive during a two week period in January. Over 600 students filled 50 empty two-liter soda bottles with pennies, dimes, nickels and quarters and later used specially cut polyvinyl chloride pipe to roll the change into coin wrappers.

The Miller Student Council organized the events to raise money for victims of the South Asian tsunami. Kalil Bottling Company donated the plastic bottles and Lowe’s donated the PVC pipe.
