Over 400 students at Lyons Elementary School, 9850 E. 29th St., will celebrate the completion of the Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards test, or AIMS, with live music by local “cowboy poet” Jon Richins from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday, April 15 in the school’s cafeteria.

Students in grades three through five will take the reading, writing and math portions of the AIMS test through the week. On Friday Richins will entertain over 400 students with music, humor, and storytelling. He will recite traditional and contemporary “cowboy poetry” which reflects the lifestyle, humor and philosophy of western life.

The student council voted to invite Richins to Lyons. Bob Gunderson, a Lyons patron, and student council are funding the event.
