Students at Manzo Elementary School, 855 N. Melrose Ave., will show off their newly professionally bound books at an author’s reception from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on April 19 at the school.

Eighteen special education students ranging in grades from second to fifth grade will read from books they wrote and illustrated over a 2-month period. Their manuscripts were made into hardback books thanks to a grant from EEF. Margaret O’Connell, a resource teacher at the school, helped oversee the project.
