TUSD Students Place in Top Ten for Local Essay Contest

Three TUSD students placed among the top ten winners of the recent Celebrate America Essay Contest and will join seven students from other area districts at a recognition luncheon to be held at noon Thursday, May 9, at El Parador Restaurant, 2744 E. Broadway.

Spencer Brigham, a student at Robins Elementary School, 4355 E. Calle Aurora, took second place in the contest. Fellow Robins student Elise Ramirez and Molly Manemann, a student at Fruchthendler Elementary School, 7470 E. Cloud Road, also placed in the top ten out of more than 200 essays submitted from students throughout the Tucson area.

Sponsored by the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the American Immigration Law Foundation, the essay contest was open to all area fifth-grade students. Students wrote essays on the theme, "Why I am Glad America is a Nation of Immigrants."
