Over 100 pairs of mentors and their students at Johnson Primary, Lawrence Intermediate and Hohokam Middle schools will be honored at a dinner sponsored by the StrengthBuilding Partners Mentoring Program at 5:30 p.m. May 9 at the cafeteria at Hohokam Middle School, 7400 S. Settler Rd. Awards presentation begins at 6:30 p.m.

The annual event celebrates the relationships between 107 students and their mentors, and thanks mentors for their dedication to the StrengthBuilding Partners Mentoring Program. This year’s dinner will be dedicated to Florentina Molina and Frank Garcia, mentors who passed away during the year.

Almost all mentors are members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. Herminia Frias, Chairwoman of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and mentor-to-be, will be speaking at the dinner. Invited guests include parents, Tribal administrators, members of Governor Napolitano’s staff, principals of the three schools, TUSD administrators and StrengthBuilding Partners donors and Board members.
