Kindergarten and first-grade students from Hudlow Elementary School will collaborate with woodworking students from Santa Rita High School to construct window boxes from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 29 at Santa Rita, 3951 S. Pantano Rd. in the woodshop.

The window boxes will be distributed among Hudlow classrooms where students will paint, decorate, and fill the boxes with donated plants. Altman Plants and the El Con Home Depot recently donated a total of 20 flats of herbs, veggies, fruits, and plants along with other supplemental gardening materials.

The project is a continuation of the Hudlow garden project, which integrates plant cultivation into the school's core curriculum. Students are responsible for planting, watering, and harvesting the vegetation, and have the occasional opportunity to include harvested fruits and vegetables in their meals.
