News Conference to Address TUSD Plans for Monday, May 1

TUSD officials will formally announce district preparations for Monday, May 1 during a news conference slated for 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, in the TUSD Governing Board Room, 1010 E. 10th. St. 

Superintendent Roger Pfeuffer will discuss plans for staffing support and resources such as a hotline number, letters and website updates for community members and parents for immediate and accurate information. He will also stress the importance of having employees fulfill their job functions on that day to ensure the academic success of all students. 

TUSD remains committed to providing consistent educational opportunities to its students and continues to urge parents to speak to their children about attending school. As before, schools have provided letters to parents asking them for their support. Students who support this boycott outside of campus will not be under TUSD’s supervision, therefore the district cannot guarantee their safety. In addition, students involved in inappropriate or illegal behavior will be subject to applicable civil and/or criminal consequences. 

Schools continue to offer a variety of activities allowing students to learn more about the current immigration bills that will be voted on by Congress in the coming weeks. Parent letters can be viewed at the district website: http://www.tusd.k12.az.us/
