The Alice V. Haynes African American Student Recognition Scholarship, worth $2,000, will be award to a student with a minimum GPA of 3.5 who intends to study at a four-year university or college. This year’s winner is Tucson High Magnet School student Shyla Bassey who will attend Arizona State University.

The WEB Du Bois Memorial Scholarship, worth $3,000, will be awarded by the University of Arizona’s College of Humanities to a student who plans a major in the college and is renewable for a second year. This year’s winners are Palo Verde students Monique Redding and Victor Yates. Both will attend the University of Arizona.
