The Clothing Bank of Tucson Unified Schools is short on clothing for young children who wear sizes 6 through 14. The Clothing Bank accepts new items and used items in good shape. Donations also are accepted.
Vicki Dawson, a TUSD School Social Worker, learned the Clothing Bank was short on smaller clothing when she went with students to get them outfitted. I was told they didn't have anything," said Dawson.
Chris Molina, who manages the Clothing Bank, said they have served approximately 350 kids since summer so they're low on inventory.
"We need to get some jeans in, some shorts, some tops – gently used items," said Molina, for students who do not wear uniforms to school. "I try to give one used pair and one new pair so everyone goes home with a new and a used pair of jeans, said Molina.
Any kind of donation will help, said Molina. If people are cleaning out their closets "I hope they remember the Clothing Bank," she said. The Clothing Bank is low on smaller clothing but Molina said they will accept donated items in all sizes.
The Clothing Bank is for TUSD students who receive free or reduced-cost lunches. Donations of clothing can be delivered to the Clothing Bank, 606 S. Plumer Ave., between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.; or the TUSD Welcome Center, 75 N. Park Ave. Smaller items can be sent through interoffice mail; monetary donations should be sent to TUSD Financial Services, Morrow Education Center, 1010 E. 10th St., Building B, Tucson, AZ 95719.
